Minneapolis City Council
Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022
9:30 a.m. — 11:30 a.m. CST
Remote
- The council postponed the Community Commission on Police Oversight (CCPO) ordinance to Tuesday. The ordinance consolidates two existing police oversight groups into one and makes other changes to the oversight structure.
- The council adopted several proposed amendments to the 2023 Legislative Agenda and Policy Positions.
- The amendments are in support of state legislation that would enact a statewide Vehicle Miles Traveled reduction goal, support efforts to repair systemic harm caused by highways, and support for transportation rideshare drivers.
- Approved a workers’ comp claim of $150,000 to a former MPD officer
- Council members Jenkins, Ellison and Payne expressed that they were only voting in approval of this because they are bound by state law to do so. Jenkins called the large number of workers comp claims filed this year by former officers – some of whom had documented instances of misconduct without discipline – “egregious.”
- The council also briefly met as the Minneapolis Community Development Agency to approve a resolution authorizing the Finance Officer of the City of Minneapolis to replace LIBOR based interest rate formulas with alternate interest rate formulas for revenue obligations issued by the Minneapolis Community Development Agency and the City of Minneapolis.
