NEIGHBORHOOD SOLAR INITIATIVE UPDATE, members of the Office of Sustainability
Councilmember Calloway asked “What was learned from O’Shea Park Solar Park?” The team responded that O’Shea Park was a DTE project and there were no Community Benefits
Councilmember Durhal spoke passionately in response to Member Calloway’s objections to putting solar parks in the city when they are not put in expensive neighborhoods outside the city
Council President Pro Tem Tate voiced that he is not fully supportive and mentioned the unattractiveness of O’Shea Park
Councilmember Young listed percentages of utility and housing burden in the city of Detroit and stated that the taxes are “too damn high”
Office of Sustainability Director, Tepfirah Rushdan, responded to Council questions
Council President Mary Sheffield asked of the 3 chosen neighborhoods, what the percentage of approval was for each neighborhood. Response: The owner occupied homes approved the plans 100%.

In-person Commenter: Corktown residents cannot park and have no power to make decisions

Council President Sheffield stated that on July 9th there will be a discussion on the integrity of Detroit elections during the City Council Formal Session
