Municipal Services & Properties has a lot on their plate; they handles the city’s public-use infrastructure, like bridges, parks, waste collection & disposal, street & sewer improvements, and recreation facilities. https://t.co/MRi3ySzttJ

The first agenda items noted are ordinances to authorise the Dir. of Public Works or Capital Projects to plan & pay for improvements to public facilities. Follow along here:

Other agenda items include businesses downtown that need permits to encroach right-of-way spaces to add canopies to their buildings, and establishing a food service in the Public Auditorium & Convention Center. https://t.co/95FRFXUZYg

Matt Spronz, Dir. of the Mayor's Office of Capital Projects, is explaining to Council all the projects for parks that will be covered under this ordinance.
Gennifer with a G @GenniferwithaG_ 9/28
Spronz tells Council this is on a "worst-first" basis of recreation facilities.
Gennifer with a G @GenniferwithaG_ 10/28
Spronz says one of the projects the city is currently working on is putting in female restroom facilities in all Cleveland fire stations. Other improvements include roof and sidewalk repairs around public facilities, including a new roof at City Hall.

Improvements to the @WestSideMarket are allocated through this ordinance. This includes repairing the clock tower, new doors, and modifications to help with temperature control inside the facility.
Gennifer with a G @GenniferwithaG_ 12/28
@kazy_brian has asked about improvements to brick streets. The Director says there is no program to support brick streets, only to rehab them into asphalt streets. He says they are considered expensive and unsustainable.
Gennifer with a G @GenniferwithaG_ 13/28
Ward 1 Councilperson Joe Jones says he's concerned about the quality of resurfacing, that several streets in his ward have problems within a few years of improvement. Admin Bureau Mgr. Rick Switalski says this usually means poor base work & those foundations will need fixed.
Gennifer with a G @GenniferwithaG_ 14/28
All three first ordinances to authorise the Dir. of Public Works or Capital Projects to plan & pay for improvements to public-service facilities, public-use facilities, and city streets, have been approved.

I've been at work an hour and my new Bosses are just waking up. Not a good first impression here. https://t.co/KNAmgqxbqt
Gennifer with a G @GenniferwithaG_ 16/28
On the table now, an ordinance to authorize funds with the County Board of Developmental Disabilities to provide specific developmental-disability service training to city recreation center employees to improve inclusion in standard activities among disabled adults.
Gennifer with a G @GenniferwithaG_ 17/28
Ward 16 Councilperson @kazy_brian says, "This one of the best pieces of legislation that we've ever come across...and a long time coming for the city of Cleveland." https://t.co/HA9oap6fb5
Gennifer with a G @GenniferwithaG_ 18/28
Tracy Martin Thompson, Chief of Prevention, Intervention, and Opportunity for Youth and Young Adults for the @CityofCleveland, is explaining funding needed for innovations in youth recreation and resources. https://t.co/2XL9C3u9HG
Gennifer with a G @GenniferwithaG_ 19/28
Martin-Thompson has often referred to "trauma-informed neighborhood resource and recreation centers". What does that mean exactly? This policy article explains it well. It's 18 pages long but a really interesting read: urban.org/sites/default/…
Gennifer with a G @GenniferwithaG_ 20/28
Both of these recreation-related ordinances have been approved.
Gennifer with a G @GenniferwithaG_ 21/28
Now on the agenda, ordinances to allow a restaurant at W. 6th & St. Clair, and businesses at Hamilton & E. 12th to encroach right-of-ways to install canopies & an outside serving area. These are both approved.
Gennifer with a G @GenniferwithaG_ 22/28
The next ordinance is a deed of easement to the Tamir Rice Foundation to make improvements to his memorial. The deed gives use to a 122-square-foot space and removes some red tape from the Foundation's developments of the area. https://t.co/PEHByjPNSW
Gennifer with a G @GenniferwithaG_ 23/28
Next is an ordinance to sell city-owned property to @Cleveland_PL to expand the Woodland library branch. @CityofCleveland Real Estate Commissioner Jamie DeRosa is giving the details. https://t.co/6sHIHikPVj
Gennifer with a G @GenniferwithaG_ 24/28
The sale has been approved.
Gennifer with a G @GenniferwithaG_ 25/28
Now on the table, establishing/renewing concession services at the Public Auditorium & Convention Center. This ordinance is approved.
Gennifer with a G @GenniferwithaG_ 26/28
Ward 2 Councilperson @KBishopCLEWard2 says they will be holding Ordinance No. 287-2020 by Committee request, but I don't see this on today's agenda. 🤷‍♀️
Gennifer with a G @GenniferwithaG_ 27/28
@KBishopCLEWard2 Ordinance No. 287-2020 regards a Job Creation Incentive Program grant agreement with The Sherwin-Williams Company & was passed on second reading, so I'm wondering if this was just an error in speaking the numbers...
